In a battle between the form sides in the BBL Championship, it was the Worcester Wolves who came out on top with a 119-104 victory over the Everton Tigers at Worcester University on Saturday evening.

The Wolves leapt out to an early 14-5 lead in the opening, and maintained their advantage throughout the opening quarter to lead 33-23 at the end of the first. The second quarter saw the Wolves take control and break the game open with a 24-5 tear to close out the first half at 69-44.

The second half saw the Tigers begin to claw their way back into the contest, and a 9-2 burst midway through the third period bought the score back to 71-53. The Wolves were able to hold off the onslaught and lead 91-76 going into the final stanza.

In the final period, both sides traded baskets in the early stages, and a 9-0 run for the Tigers got them to within ten points at 100-90, but the Tigers could get no closer as Worcester secured the victory from the foul line.

Antony Paez led the Wolves scoring with 29 points, and was ably assisted by Chuck Evans who picked up his second "triple-double" in successive games with 25 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists. Richard Midgley led all scorers in the game with 33 points for the Tigers.
