BBL Championship Match Preview

POujoulat Heat Guildford moved into joint second place with the Sheffield Sharks in the BBL Championship table after a convincing 95-79 victory over the Marshall MK Lions at the Guildford Spectrum on Sunday afternoon.

The Heat started strongly, and an 11-4 run towards the end of the opening period took the score out to 15-10. The Lions came back in the second quarter, and took the lead at 19-20 off the back of a 6-0 burst to opening the period, however the Heat came back strongly, and a 13-4 tear enabled them to retake the lead at 37-30.

The second half saw the visitors close the gap once again, and got to within a single point at 48-47 off the back of a 13-3 run. The Heat broke the game open with a 24-6 tear across the third and fourth quarter break to take the score out to 78-64 with 5.23 remaining.

The Heat secured the victory with a 7-0 run to increase their lead to nineteen points at 87-68.

Mike Martin led all scorers with 24 points for the Heat. Brian Dux also netted 17 points for the Heat on his return. Michael New led the Lions scoring with 21.
